Driftwood Canyon (UA collection) (Eocene of Canada)

Where: British Columbia, Canada (54.8° N, 127.0° W: paleocoordinates 60.2° N, 108.8° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Ootsa Lake Group, Ypresian (56.0 - 47.8 Ma)

• Okanagan Highlands localities traditionally considered middle Eocene (Lutetian) but more recently others have been shown to be early Eocene (Ypresian). U-Pb and Ar-Ar dates of Ootsa Lake Gp volcanics at other localities give age range of 53.2-47.6 Ma, spanning Ypresian and Lutetian, but position of Driftwood Canyon within that range is unknown. 51.77 ± 0.34 according to Archibald et al., 2014.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; lithified shale

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: mold/impression
