When: Dove Spring Formation, Clarendonian to Clarendonian (13.6 - 10.3 Ma)

• Stratigraphically, LACM locality 7704 is slightly above a volcanic ash, Ash 9 (Whistler, 1969; Whistler and Burbank, 1992), which has been 40Ar/39Ar dated to ∼10.2 Ma (early late Miocene; D. Whistler, pers. comm.).

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; tuffaceous mudstone
