• Wax Camp is shown to overlie Whistler Squat s.s. in fig. 1 of Gustafson 1979, but I suspect this is a diagrammatic conceit

KA dates of 49.7 +/- 1.2 Ma and 46.9 +/- 1.0 Ma on volcanic tuff directly underlying the site; KA date of 43.9 +/- 0.9 on tuff overlying site; weighted average is 46.1 Ma, but Walton 1992 claims that the 43.9 date is "The most reliable... in the DGF" and the other two dates are incompatible with the AA date of 46.29 Ma for the underlying Alamo Creek Basalt (see Prothero 1996b)
