• Sediments from Jebel Qarari have been dated as Wordian by both ammonoids and conodonts (Immenhauser et al. 1998; Lambert pers. comm. in Fortey & Heward 2015). However, Fortey & Heward (2015, p. 3) wrote that there are uncertainties about the taxonomic identification of these ammonoids. Furthermore, the conodont species reported in Fortey & Heward (2015) is Mesogondolella siciliensis, which has a range upper Kungurian-Roadian (Henderson 2018), possibly extending into the Wordian (Angiolini et al. 2015). Consequently, also the age of JQ1 probably straddles the Cisuralian-Guadalupian boundary.
