Where: Tasmania, Australia (42.2° S, 145.3° E: paleocoordinates 64.1° S, 152.5° E)
• coordinate stated in text
When: Malvacipollis diversus zone pollen zone, Early/Lower Eocene (55.8 - 48.6 Ma)
• The Regatta Point mudstone was placed in the Malvacipollis diversus zone, based on the presence of Intratriporopollenites notabilis, Liliacidites lanceolatus, Polycolpites esobalteus, Proteacidites grandis, P. leightonii and Spinizonocolpites priminatus, which have their first appearance in the M. diversus zone. None of the species characteristic of the more recent Proteacidites asperopolus zone were present. Therefore the Regatta Point mudstone is of Early Eocene age.
