Where: Victoria, Australia (37.2° S, 146.6° E: paleocoordinates 26.2° S, 160.4° E)

When: Bindaree Formation (Wellington Volcanic Group), Late/Upper Givetian (380.2 - 382.7 Ma)

• Usually given as Avon River group, but that is outdated. Although the papers never state it, Australia's Fossil Heritage notes that it is part of the Bindaree Formation. Also, it is now dated as Late Givetian, not Middle Givetian.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine - small; limestone

• The depositionalenvironment has been interpreted as part of an intramontane basinal setting in which lakes were periodically formed by damming of the high energy drainage system by acid lava flows and ignimbritic eruptions (Long 1982).
• Finely-laminated black lacustrine shales.
