Baranów tracksite (Triassic of Poland)

Where: Swietoryzskie, Poland (51.0° N, 20.9° E: paleocoordinates 19.6° N, 25.2° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Baranów Formation, Anisian (247.2 - 242.0 Ma)

• middle part of this informal formation; early Anisian

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; claystone and fine-grained, medium sandstone

• "lithofacies succession and cyclicity characteristic for sandy meandering rivers. The lower segments of the cycles are represented by channel deposits; point bar and channel-lag successions also occur. Floodplain deposits are developed as claystones and siltstones, with intercalations of fine- to medium-grained sandstones. These deposits represent crevasse-splays, levees and lakes."
