When: Sobrepeña Formation, Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; marl

• Lacustrine environment with varying oxygen levels
• "Los datos sedimentológicos y faunísticos apuntan hacia un ambiente lacustre, de aguas preferentemente tranquilas, si bien su grado de oxigenación pudo ser variable, alternando condiciones más oxidantes (lutitas rojas) con otras más reductoras (lutitas verdosas) (García-Garmilla, 1979; Floquet, 1991, 1992)."

•Stratigraphic figure depicts fossil bearing horizon near top of local section of Sobrepena Fm. about 7 meters below top of formation and 35 meters above base..
