L53, Luangwa Basin (Permian to of Zambia)

Where: Zambia (10.6° S, 33.0° E: paleocoordinates 54.6° S, 13.7° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone other zone, Upper Member (Madumabisa Mudstone Formation), Wuchiapingian to Wuchiapingian (259.9 - 252.2 Ma)

• "Angielczyk et al.(2014) correlated the tetrapod assemblage of the upper Madumabisa Mudstone with the Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone of the Karoo Basin, South Africa. More recently, Angielczyk & Kammerer (2017) suggested that the upper Madumabisa Mudstone may overlap parts of the Cistecephalus and Daptocephalus assemblage zones, based on the revised stratigraphic ranges for South African taxa presented in Viglietti et al.(2016). Taking into account the radiometric dates of Rubidge et al.(2013) and Gastaldo et al.(2015; also see Rubidge et al.2016), this correlation would imply a Wuchiapingian–early Changhsingian age." (Angielczyk et al. 2019)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; siliciclastic sediments

Size class: macrofossils

Collected in 2009
