When: Poker Chip Shale Member (Fernie Formation), Bifrons (182.0 - 175.6 Ma)
• Upper surface of a thin, resistant siltstone bed estimated to be 20 m above the base of the Poker Chip Shale, correlating with the serpentinum–bifrons Zones (Hall et al. 1998) (Fig. 1). Recent field work at this locality, which was carefully correlationed with Hall’s original stratigraphic columns and notes using multiple lithologically distinctive units (Them et al. 2017), suggests a latest serpentinum– earliest bifrons Zone age for this horizon (roughly 8 m above the base of the Poker Chip Shale.
