• Biochronologic studies suggest that fossils from the Palmetto Fauna are 5.5–5 Ma, approximately contemporaneous with the Gray Fossil Site (Webb and Hulbert, 1986; Tedford et al., 2004; Webb et al., 2008; Hulbert et al., 2009).
