Station 21, tributary of Tehuacana Creek (Paleocene to of the United States)

Where: Limestone County, Texas (31.7° N, 96.5° W: paleocoordinates 36.3° N, 77.2° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Mexia Clay Member (Wills Point Formation), Danian to Danian (66.0 - 59.2 Ma)

• The very compact, gray, fossiliferous clays carrying numerous small corals lies within the Mexia clay member of the Wills Point formation and about 35 feet above the top ledge of the Tehuacana limestone. A few yards north and west of this outcrop along the creek, lignitic Wilcox strata are faulted down against these lower strata of the Wills Point formation.

•Mexia Clay Member is Early-Middle Paleocene = Danian-Selandian according to: Armstrong, A., Nyborg, T., Bishop, G.A., Morales, À.O. and Vega, F.J., 2009. Decapod crustaceans from the Paleocene of Central Texas, USA. Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas, 26(3), pp.745-763.

Environment/lithology: marginal marine; unlithified, gray claystone

• very compact, gray, fossiliferous clays carrying numerous small corals

Size class: microfossils

• fossiliferous clays carrying numerous small corals
