• Locality data accompanying this specimen are not sufficiently precise to determine its stratigraphic position, which is either lower Eocene or Upper Cretaceous. Eocene rocks are exposed in a one to two km wide northwest-southeast trending belt running through Vacaville (Strand & Koenig,1965), and dark carbonaceous shale on Ulatis Creek at Vacaville contains a marine molluscan fauna of early Eocene age (Palmer,1923) assigned to the "Capay" Stage by Merriam & Turner (1937).
