• average of three FT on zircon dates is 5.5 +/- 0.2 Ma; correlation with 5N (= C & K 92 C3An.1n) is probably correct, but if so the FT date should be 6.23 Ma (13% older) and the fauna (from the succeeding normal interval) is 5.83 Ma; alternatively, the FT date should be 4.93 Ma (10% younger), which seems very implausible
