Environment/lithology: "floodplain"; mudstone and conglomerate

• The early Late Cretaceous Gaogou Formation which yielded the turtle remains described herein consists of floodplain and lacustrine conglomerates, sandstones and mudstones, deposited under a subtropical-tropical climate and dry conditions.
