When: Lystrosaurus other zone, Fremouw Formation, Early/Lower Triassic (252.2 - 247.2 Ma)
• Lower Fremouw Formation
Environment/lithology: fluvial; sandstone
• These rocks were deposited under conditions of a high water table in braided streams, mires, floodplain lakes, and in poorly-drained flood- plains.
• Deposits consist of fine to coarse-grained sandstone, coal, laminated siltstone, carbonaceous shale, and occasional paleosols (histosols).
