Rick's Sausage Site (Riversleigh World Heritage Area) (Miocene of Australia)

Also known as RSS

Where: Queensland, Australia (19.0° S, 138.7° E: paleocoordinates 27.9° S, 135.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

When: Middle Miocene (16.0 - 11.6 Ma)

• Because it's an isolated site, it's uncertain which Riversleigh Faunal Zone this site fits into. The presence Wanburoo hilarus (only found in Zone C sites) suggests a middle Miocene age.

Environment/lithology: fluvial; lithology not reported

• While not reported in the paper so I have not included it here, a lot of Riversleigh WHA is comprised of fluvial deposits of limestone. Deposits of similar age (e.g. AL90) are interpreted as rainforest.

Size class: macrofossils
