Also known as LACM 1209; LACM 7111; Standing Camel Basin; Tecopa Basin; Tecopa Lake Basin
DUPLICATE REF 2018 or 2019

Where: Inyo County, California (36.0° N, 116.3° W: paleocoordinates 36.1° N, 115.7° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Tecopa Lake Beds Formation, Blancan (4.9 - 1.8 Ma)

• "from several stratigraphic levels... a few meters below the Huckleberry Ridge Tuff (2.1 Ma)" and therefore late Blancan instead of Illinoian, as thought by Jefferson 1991; the date is 2.103 +/- 0.019 Ma (laser fusion Ar/Ar) and derives from Honey et al. 1998 (Whistler and Webb 2005)

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; gypsiferous mudstone

• "Deposits comprise a series of lacustrine and marginal fluviatile deposits" (Whistler and Webb 2005)
• "a variety of gypsiferous mudstones, siltstones, and tufa (subaerial and freshwater limestone), with basin marginal deposits of sandstone and conglomerate"; fossils are from a "lake mud" also called an "unctuous... deep clay mire" (Whistler and Webb 2005)
