Cruces Infinitos (Miocene to of Argentina)

Where: Chubut, Argentina (42.7° S, 69.7° W: paleocoordinates 43.1° S, 65.5° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Collón Cura Formation, Langhian to Langhian (16.0 - 11.6 Ma)

• The area of exposure of Cruces Infinitos is ∽2.5 km2, and it is constituted by ∽60 m thick of volcaniclastic sediments

•Fossils collected in five different levels in the base of the section, but as the authors do not clearly separate the specimens per level, all the occurrences are grouped into a single collection point for the moment.

Environment/lithology: delta plain; sandstone and siltstone

• Sediments were accumulated into a lacustrine to deltaic sedimentary environment
• Sediments on these sites are dominated by whitish volcaniclastic sandstones and siltstones, with volcaniclastic pebbly sandstones subordinated

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Reposited in the MEF

Collection methods: mechanical,

• The materials collected in the localities studied in this work are deposited in the (a): LIEB-PV, Laboratorio de Investigaciones en Evolución y Biodiversidad (PV, Paleovertebrados), Esquel, Argentina; (b): MPEF-PV, Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio - Paleontología de Vertebrados, Trelew, Argentina.
