Quiri 1 (Cretaceous of Brazil)

Where: Goiás, Brazil (18.3° S, 50.5° W: paleocoordinates 21.8° S, 36.3° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Marília Formation (Bauru Group), Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)

• "two fossiliferous levels"

•Dias-Brito et al. (2001) assign the Marília Formation to the Late Maastrichtian interval based on the fossil record of ostracods from western São Paulo State and in the Triângulo Mineiro region.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; sandstone and conglomerate

• According to Barcelos & Suguio (1987), the Marília Formation was deposited in an anastomosed river system that produced fine to medium sandstones and lacustrine limestone deposits.
• This geological unit is formed by fine to medium sandstones interbedded with levels of conglomerates. The sandstones are cemented and contain calcium carbonate concretions (Fúlfaro & Barcelos, 1991).

Size class: macrofossils
