Peninj-Kipalagu (Pleistocene of Tanzania)

Also known as ETE Locality 1393, Peninj-Kipalagu,

Where: Lake Natron Basin, Tanzania (2.3° S, 36.0° E: paleocoordinates 2.4° S, 35.9° E)

When: Humbu Formation (Peninj Group), Calabrian (1.8 - 0.8 Ma)

• ETE dating method: time_unit, ETE age comment: "K-Ar,paleomag of Bayasi&Mguludu horiz W of Kipalagu"

•Was originally under Hubu Formation. Base of formation is about ~1.75Ma, the Main Tuff is ~1.19+/-0.03Ma. The top of the Peninj Group is about 1.01+/-0.03Ma, therefore, the upper dsands are ~1.2-1.1Ma (Deino et al. 2006)
