Where: Nei Mongol, China (44.0° N, 115.0° E: paleocoordinates 30.8° N, 94.8° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Zhesi Formation, Guadalupian (273.0 - 259.5 Ma)
• Previous geological surveys indicated that the strata belong to the Upper Devonian-Lower Carboniferous Seribayanobao Formation, but the fossils are more consistent with a late Carboniferous-Permian age. Furthermore, the in situ U-Pb isotope dating has demonstrated that most of the detrital zircons recovered from the silt-bearing mudstone were between 276 Ma and 292 Ma in age.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, yellow, silty mudstone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: mold/impression
Reposited in the NIGPAS
