• "BA 4-5. Associated lithofacies is well-bedded silty mudstones of the shale belt offshore from the shelf limestones. Mikulic and Watkins (1981) referred the lithotype to their mudstone facies and laminated shale facies. The latter facies was considered to be non-bioturbated possibly because of a low oxygenation of the bottom waters." "In the Wenlock type area the Coalbrookdale Formation marks the start of a regressive event which culminated in the deposition of the Much Wenlock Limestone...The lower parts of that formation were deposited between wave base and ust below storm wave base, and the vertical sequence implies a deeper depositional environment for the Coalbrookdale...bottom currents existed...general absence of suspension feeders..."
