Cyrtia tuvaensis Community, Dashtygoi Beds, C. Tuva (Silurian of Russian Federation)

Where: Russian Federation (51.0° N, 93.0° E: paleocoordinates 32.2° N, 13.4° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• basin-level geographic resolution

When: Dashtygoi Beds Formation, Wenlock (433.4 - 427.4 Ma)

Environment/lithology: marine; shelly/skeletal, argillaceous, calcareous siltstone

• "Well-sorted, disarticulated, well-preserved specimens indicate insignificant transport. Dominance of nominative speices and excellent preservation suggest nearby source. Large, flat interarea of Cyrtia commonly taken as modification for soft substrate [quiet water, as indicated by articulated shells]. BA 3. Ocurrence in BA 3 contrasts with more offshore BA 5 position of British Wenlock (Wang Yu et al. 1987)."
• "At Kadvoi articulated and disarticulated specimens occur in a calcareous, argillaceous siltstone. At Chaakhol shell beds made of numerous disarticulated dorsal and ventral valves of Cyrtia form a laterally continuous coquina."
