Calamophylliopsis association, Ota Reef, Portugal (Jurassic of Portugal)

Also known as Reef 485

Where: Portugal (39.1° N, 9.0° W: paleocoordinates 33.2° N, 1.2° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Ota Limestone Formation, Late/Upper Kimmeridgian (155.7 - 150.8 Ma)

• Tentative age based on microfossils seen in thin sections. No correlation with ammonite zones possible. Probably extending down into Oxfordian.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: reef, buildup or bioherm; lithified bafflestone

• Coral bafflestones. Corals coated with thin microbial crusts. Sediment between corals is bioclastic intraclastic packstone.
