• "dark-gray to black fine-grained to medium-grained argillaceous limestone. Finely crystalling calcite forms one-half to two-thirds of the rock. The less calcareous layers are weakly cleaved. There are discontinuous layers and nodules of ligh-gray-weathering and dark-gray to black chert. Much of the shelly material in the rock is silicified."
