• The following lithological complexes are currently distinguished within the Zechstein on the so-called "near" Permian-Mesozoic edge of the Holy Cross Paleozoic core: Zechstein Limestone (Ca1) locally underlaying by the Copper-Bearing Shale (in German Kupfer schiefer; T1), Lower Anhydrite (Ald) in some sections, Terrigenious Series (T1r) and Upper Anhydrite (A1g) which all form the Werra Cycle (PZ1); the Strassfort Cycle (PZ2) is developed as the Terrigenous Series (T2r), the Grey Pelite (T3), Platy Dolomite (Ca3) and only locally Main Anhydrite (A3) represents the Leine Cycle (PZ3). The uppermost Zechstein deposits consist of the Top Terrigenous Series (Pzt).
