Platy Dolomite Ca3 Zaciszowice IG1 borehole Kielce (Permian to of Poland)

Where: Poland (50.8° N, 20.7° E: paleocoordinates 17.7° N, 28.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Platy Dolomite Formation, Wuchiapingian to Wuchiapingian (259.9 - 252.2 Ma)

• The following lithological complexes are currently distinguished within the Zechstein on the so-called "near" Permian-Mesozoic edge of the Holy Cross Paleozoic core: Zechstein Limestone (Ca1) locally underlaying by the Copper-Bearing Shale (in German Kupfer schiefer; T1), Lower Anhydrite (Ald) in some sections, Terrigenious Series (T1r) and Upper Anhydrite (A1g) which all form the Werra Cycle (PZ1); the Strassfort Cycle (PZ2) is developed as the Terrigenous Series (T2r), the Grey Pelite (T3), Platy Dolomite (Ca3) and only locally Main Anhydrite (A3) represents the Leine Cycle (PZ3). The uppermost Zechstein deposits consist of the Top Terrigenous Series (Pzt).

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: peritidal; limestone and dolomite

• The Holy Cross Mountains belonged to the costal zone of he Germanic basin during the Late Permian and Upper Triassic. Therefore some members of the Zechstein and Buntsandstein lithological sections are missing or reduced in comparison to the deeper part of the basin.
• In text: The equivalent of the Platy Dolomite is more widely distributed. In the Southern subregion its thickness does not exceed 2 m; it occurs there in the form of the algal limestones with a mixture of bioclasts. In the northern subregion deposits are thicker (up to 10 m) and bipartate: algal bioloites at the bottom are overlain by the alternating micrite and marl layers.

•In log: dolomites and laminated limestones

Size class: microfossils

Preservation: original sporopollenin

Collection methods: core, chemical, mechanical,
