Where: Manitoba, Canada (52.1° N, 97.9° W: paleocoordinates 10.4° S, 57.8° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Cat Head Member (Red River Formation), Maysvillian (452.0 - 449.5 Ma)

• Was Trentonian - Edenian, but Jin & Zhan give Maysvillian

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lithified, bioturbated, dolomitic, argillaceous, calcareous mudstone

• The Dog Head and Cat Head members consist mainly of relatively dense, argillaceous, bioturbated mudstone, which is largely calcareous with some degree of dolomitization in the Winnipeg - southern Lake Winnipeg area but completely dolomitized in south-central Manitoba, toward the margin of the Williston Basin (McCabe 1971 ).
