Also known as Scollard Locality 2, Sample #C1, Collection on the high banks of the Red Deer River, about 5 miles west of Scollard hamlet (Edmonton)
Where: Alberta, Canada (51.9° N, 112.8° W: paleocoordinates 59.6° N, 84.3° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Scollard Formation (Edmonton Group), Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)
• The span of the time of the deposition of the Upper Edmonton Member is dated circa 67 to 63 million years. C1 was collected from the lower part of the Upper Edmonton Formation about 95 feet avove the Kneehills Tuff. It is equivalent to the mammal-bearing member (Srivastava 1968), the Scollard Member of the Paskapoo Formation (Irish 1970), and the Scollard Formation of the Edmonton Group (Gibson 1977). The Kneehills Tuff has a radiogenic age of 65.2 m yrs. The Nevis Coal Seam, which is about 53 feet above the sample C1, has a radiogenic age of 62.5 m yrs. The Upper Edmonton Formation, up to the Nevis Coal Seam, is equivalent to the Lancian Stage or the uppermost Maastrichtian Stage.
