When: Alfambra Formation, Turolian (8.7 - 5.3 Ma)

• MN11, early Turolian, Late Miocene.

Environment/lithology: gray marl

• 'The basal part of the section belongs to the Peral formation. It consists of 2m of red sandstones with some scattered pebbles as well as thin layers of pebbles, followed by 1m of yellow sandstones. Next follows the Alfambra Formation: 0.2m of grey marl and lignite, 0.4m of grey limestone, a not exposed interval of 1m, 0.8m of grey marl (the TOA locality) with some very thin streaks of lignite, some molluscs and plants root imprints.'
