When: Marar Formation, Tournaisian (358.9 - 346.7 Ma)

• Formation said to be upper Tournaisian, although there seems to be some uncertainty here. Samples from middle of formation.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; silty shale and sandstone

• thought to be close to Lingula community (BA1), but seaward, on basis of taxonomic composition
• Formation as a whole: "shales and silty shales interbedded with sandstones"

Collection methods: Focus of monograph is brachiopods and bivalves, but other elements are sometimes mentioned in passing.
