• Mergl and Massa consider the environment similar to that of the Tarut Formation (shallow, lagoonal, BA 1).
• Formation as a whole: "...mostly consists of fine-grained sandstone, siltstone and claystone alternating in various proportions. In the central and eastern parts of Wadi ash Shati, the ore-bearing member "B" developed amidst the Fm., dividing it into a lower, a middle, and an upper part...Fossil fauna is very scarce in the bulk of the Fm.."
