• Lower Nemegt Beds = Barun Goyot Fm.; the "barren series" ("nemaya tolshcha")

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; poorly lithified, fine-grained, red sandstone and brown, red, sandy mudstone

• "fine-grained poorly cemented sandstones with rare intercalations of sandy mudstones. The sandstones usually have a brick-red colour, while the mudstones are of a somewhat darker reddish-brown colour."
