Where: Para, Brazil (1.0° S, 55.0° W: paleocoordinates 69.6° S, 33.7° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Lontra Member (Maecuru Formation), Emsian to Emsian (407.6 - 387.7 Ma)

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; sandstone and bioturbated siltstone

• Deposition reflects deepening. See lithology description.
• "The Maecuru Fm. of Emsian/Eifelian age is composed by the Jatapu and Lontra members...Jatapu [consists of] bioturbated silty/shaly layers and argillaceous sandstones...Fluvial sandstones and conglomerates are the main constituents of the Lontra unit. However, locally on the N flank and throughout the subsurface the uppermost Lontra sediments are shallow marine "tempestites", i.e. hummocky cross-stratified sandstones containing the well known Devonian invertebrate fauna recorded by pioneer workers from outcrops of the Maecuru and Curua rivers."
