Whitecliff Bay, Bembridge Limestone (Beds 32-34), Isle of Wight (Eocene of the United Kingdom)

Where: England, United Kingdom (50.7° N, 1.1° W: paleocoordinates 49.2° N, 5.0° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Bembridge Limestone Formation, Late/Upper Eocene (37.2 - 33.9 Ma)

• This author numbers beds for the whole area in one series, these are beds 32-34. Prestwich gives fossils for beds 34-31 collectively, but I think he's lumping the Bembridge Limestone and Osborne Beds (which he calls collectively part of the "Upper Group" of the fluvio-marine series), so I'm splitting them for this collection. I have correlated it with Bosma's naming system as the Bembridge Limestone

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shelly/skeletal, gray, green, yellow, argillaceous marl

• light-coloured limestone with numerous fossils, dark grey marls and light greenish white marls and yellow earthy limestone

Size class: macrofossils
