• Forbes calls this bed 1, and calls the subunit the St. Helen's Sands, a naming that I'm not sure anyone else follows. Bed thickness is 14 ft.

Environment/lithology: concretionary, argillaceous, calcareous sandstone and poorly lithified, concretionary, sandy, cherty/siliceous sandstone

• This bed is pale greenish white and yellowish sands, hardening into sandstones, with large lenticular siliceous concretions and spongoid bodies. The Osborne Beds are sandstone and clay beds with concretions and some interbedded marl.
