• Underlies the nummulitic limestones of the Mokattam Formation and overlies the Thebes Formation. The unit was given a middle Eocene (Lutetian) age based on forams, although other workers have suggested a Ypresian age. Comprises a 100 m (328 ft) cliff of white limestones.
