Where: Jiangsu, China (32.1° N, 118.8° E: paleocoordinates 32.5° N, 116.6° E)

When: Serravallian (13.8 - 11.6 Ma)

• MN8, Astaracian, Tunggurian, Latest Middle Miocene. Found in a layer 20m below a basalt dated by K-Ar to 12.17Ma.

Collection methods: Specimens consist of fragmentary teeth. There appear to be two collections made at this site - Linyanshan 1 is the one quoted in later papers, the 'indet' faunas are not mentioned. However Chiu et al. 1979 do add an 'etc.' to their faunal list. The faunal list in Bi et al. is split into 1 and 2 so the two groups have been entered separately.
