• The Upper Bhuban Formation of the Surma Group in Mizoram may be of Aquitanian-Burdigalian to Burdigalian age.

Environment/lithology: marine; gray, silty sandstone and pebbly, brown sandstone

• The faunal assemblage indicates a shallow marine environment of deposition.
• The two crab-bearing beds in the Upper Bhuban are noted at this locality as well. The lower horizon is 1.0 m thick, a grey hard silty sandstone, while the upper horizon is 1.5 m thick, a highly weathered, deep brown pebbly sandstone. The associated fossils include plates of barnacles and fragments of bivalve and gastropod shells. (Shark teeth and foraminifers are mentioned as well).
