Where: Frensno County, California (36.0° N, 120.2° W: paleocoordinates 35.2° N, 115.9° W)

When: Temblor Formation, Middle Miocene (16.0 - 11.6 Ma)

• From thin caliche covered ledges interbedded with possly fossiliferous sandstone. Total interval is about 20 ft thick, and overlain by white, fine-grained sandstone. From faunizone B (zone 3) (for that reason assigned an middle Miocene age).

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, shelly/skeletal sandstone

• Deposited in partially enclosed bay. The fauna has a preponderance of shallow-water forms and many of the genera are characteristic of tropical or subtropical climate.
