Also known as Rocca Neyra

Where: France (45.6° N, 3.2° E: paleocoordinates 45.6° N, 3.0° E)

When: MN 17 (2.6 - 1.8 Ma)

• Late Pliocene, Villanyian, Villafranchian

•"Early dates for the assemblage of Roca-Neyra have been estimated at 1.99 Ma (Poidevin et al., 1984); however, recent analyses show a much older date, at 2.6 Ma (Nomade et al., 2014). This older date is consistent with the biochronological interpretation by Palombo and Valli (2004) for Montopoli FU, the earliest Quaternary, at the boundary between Pliocene and Pleistocene."
