• MN5"a"; Obere Süßwassermolasse (Upper Freshwater Molasse), Lower Tortonian, Upper Helvetian is also possible.

•After Bollinger 1994: MN5"a" (=lower MN5).

•MN5 is at the Burdigalian/Langhian boundary. "Tortonian" was used in a different context in the eastern Paratethys.

Environment/lithology: fluvial-lacustrine; marl and unlithified, fine-grained sandstone

• The fossils were discovered in a layer of marl 10 cm in thickness, intercalated in fine sand.
