Where: Santa Cruz, Argentina (49.6° S, 69.6° W: paleocoordinates 52.4° S, 56.0° W)

When: Cerro Fortaleza Formation, Campanian (83.6 - 72.1 Ma)

• Previously attributed to the Mata Amarilla Formation, but regarded as the Cerro Fortaleza Formation by Sickman et al. (2018), with a Campanian age (Ghiglione et al. 2021)

•also listed as Cardiel Formation and Matasiete Formation - orig. the "Guaranitic Formation", found above a layer with Ostrea guaranitica, but the bed coninues below this layer as well.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithified, red sandstone
