When: Wangaloa Formation, Danian (66.0 - 61.6 Ma)

• Wangaloa Formation has perviously been assigned to Upper Miocene, and Late Cretaceous, but is Early Paleocene. Miospores indicate zone PM2=Haumurian=Maastrichtian immediately below skelatal assemblage. Palynological, foraminiferal, and molluscan assemblages at the horizon and immediately above indicate Early Paleocene=Teurian ages. Early Teurian=Danian
