Where: Quthing, Lesotho (30.4° S, 27.7° E: paleocoordinates 44.1° S, 1.4° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Upper Member (Elliot Formation), Hettangian to Hettangian (201.3 - 190.8 Ma)
• "in the middle of the Red Beds"
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: fine channel fill; fine-grained, red sandstone and paleosol/pedogenic, nodular, green, white sandstone
•"one of several fine-grained sandstone beds that emanate from the top of a 4 m-thick sandstone body and interfinger with overlying mudrocks...Mudrocks immediately overlying the track-bearing sandstone are uncharacteristically olive-green...the color change is almost certainly the result of contact metamorphism from a nearby dolerite sill and does not have any paleoenvironmental significance."
