Also known as R-21
Where: British Columbia, Canada (49.6° N, 122.0° W: paleocoordinates 49.4° N, 74.4° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Brokenback Hill Formation, Middle Albian (109.0 - 105.3 Ma)
• GENERAL DATA: The Brokenback Hill Fm ranges from upper Valanginian to middle Albian in age. All colllections have relatively fine temporal resolution however due to ammonite biostratigraphy. SPECIFIC AGE DATA: Cleoniceras perezianum (Whiteaves) is regarded as Middle Albian. This occurrence is significant as it documents for the first time the eastward extension of marine rocks of the Gambier Group eastward into the Harrison Lake area. These rocks were previousl believed to be restricted to the very poorly understood mid-Cretaceous basin of the Gulf of Georgia (see Jeletzky, 1976, 1977)
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, tuffaceous sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: cast, mold/impression
Reposited in the GSC
Collection methods: surface (in situ),
• Collected and initially identified by Tipper (pers. comm.), and later published by Ray and Coombes (1984). Collection presumably reposited in the GSC.
