• Lower Permian (Wolfcampian-Leonardian) strata, Units "Pa" to "Pgu" (defined by Larson and Riva, 1963), unconformably overlie the chert-clastic-rich packstone and wackestone of the Middle Pennsylvanian (Atokan-Desmoinesian) Ely Group. Conodonts Mesogondolella bisselli, Neostreptognathodus pequopensis indicate Artinskian age.
