Where: Alaska (55.8° N, 123.3° W: paleocoordinates 11.2° S, 57.9° W)
• coordinate estimated from map
• local area-level geographic resolution
When: Wadleigh Limestone Formation, Eifelian (393.3 - 387.7 Ma)
• formation-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: lithified, argillaceous limestone and calcareous shale
•(1970), is a medium- to thick-bedded “relatively pure, fossil-fragmental limestone,” with interbedded argillaceous limestone and calcareous shale in the lower part of the unit. The limestone is rich in corals, crinoid columnals, and the stromatoporoid Amphipora and contains less abundant brach-iopods, gastropods, bivalves, nautiloids, ammonoids, and ostracodes. The unit is inferred to represent patch reefs, reef breccia, and reef-peripheral deposits (Eberlein and Churkin, 1970).
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: replaced with silica
Reposited in the USNM
