Where: Obalno-Kraska, Slovenia (45.6° N, 13.9° E: paleocoordinates 34.2° N, 13.5° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Liburnian Formation, Late/Upper Maastrichtian to Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 61.6 Ma)
• Infill into Santonian-lower Campanian Lipica Fm. karst
•
•From Puértolas-Pascual et al. 2016: The teeth werec ollected from a paleokarst fissure within the Lipica Formation, filled by dark limestone fragments from the Maastrichtian-Paleocene Liburnian Formation (Debeljak, Košir, & Otoničar, 1999), so these remains are considered Maastrichtian in age (Dalla Vecchia, 2006).
•Steuber et al. 2005 also note that the Liburnian Fm. deposits sensu lato in Croatia and Slovenia are analogous to certain Campanian–Maastrichtian deposits of the Sumartin Fm. but the Liburnian Fm. sensu stricto is considered terminal Maastrichtian–Danian in age based on strontium isotope stratigraphy.
